A new line of products that aims to make outdoor deck maintenance a thing of the past is now available from a building supply company in Glendale.

The product line, called TimberTech, is a low maintenance, environmentally sustainable deck board that is a market leader in innovation, quality and aesthetics that is installed on wooden joists providing a sustainable, ecological and elegant solution to customers.

TimberTech deck boards provide a premium wood-look aesthetic that is more durable and more resistant to the elements than traditional wood decks. The core of the TimberTech Pro and Edge boards is made of a mixture of PVC and wood fibers and is covered with PVC. The PVC cap is designed to protect the panel against mold and rot.

city wooda building supply company located at 84-02 72nd Drive, recently began stocking new TimberTech deck boards. City Lumber is a WBE Certified Company who moved to Glendale from Long Island City in September. It had been located on 31st Street in Long Island City for 25 years.

O’Neill Perez, operations manager at City Lumber, said TimberTech deck boards are transforming outdoor decks.

“If you want to spruce up your deck, this is the perfect product because you don’t have to worry about resurfacing, refinishing, or cleaning year after year,” Perez said.

Perez said the bane of many homeowners — and business owners — who have a traditional deck is the constant treatment of the wood because it’s exposed to the weather all year round. Wood can often rot, decay and chip, he said.

He said TimberTech deck boards offer a simple solution to the problem.

“TimberTech eliminates all that extra work and cost. The material is low maintenance and backed by 25, 30 and 50 year warranties depending on the decking collection.

Perez said the TimberTech line also gives outdoor decking a cleaner, timeless look compared to traditional wood planks.

There are three different products in the TimberTech line – TimberTech Azek, TimberTech Pro and TimberTech Edge – all of which are available from City Lumber.

TimberTech Azek, Perez said, is the flagship line of the product line and is an all-PVC product. Hooded on all four sides, the product is backed by a 50 year warranty against fading and staining. There are 11 different TimberTech Azek finishes including English Walnut, Weathered Teak, Dark Hickory and French White Oak.

TimberTech Pro and TimberTech Edge are composite deck boards made with a combination of recycled wood fibers and recycled plastic, Perez said. They are available in a wide variety of colors and finishes.

All three decking ranges are available in a grooved profile, allowing the product to be installed with hidden fasteners. Exposed nails can be a common, and sometimes dangerous, feature of traditional wood decks, he said.

TimberTech Pro planks are capped on all sides and come with a 30-year “fade and stain” warranty. There are 15 different finishes available, including dark roast, whitewashed cedar, ash, pecan and rustic elm, he said.

Meanwhile, the TimberTech Edge range is styled on three sides and comes with a 25-year “fade and stain” warranty, Perez said. Four finishes are available: Maritime Grey, Dark Teak, Coconut Shell, Sea Salt Gray and Dark Cocoa. The base is uncapped.

City Lumber started stocking TimberTech boards about two months ago, and Perez said the product line is selling well. He said summer is almost upon us and many people are getting ready to use their decks again and are considering using TimberTech decking.

“The feedback has been very good and there have been no complaints,” Perez said.

Perez said the TimberTech range can be used on many outdoor spaces including decks, patios, balconies, roofs around swimming pools and along walkways. He said it can also be put on steps and used on ramps.

Jason Spodek, co-owner of City Lumber, said City Lumber offers a range of accessories to enhance the look of the deck, such as lighting, raised boards and railing options. Fasteners and screws are also supplied by City Lumber, he said.

Spodek said customers can call the company’s on-site showroom to view the different finishes. Customers can also get free samples shipped to their front door by inquiring through the Company Website.

City Lumber employees, Spodek said, are ready to help customers through their planning process and advise them on which product will best meet their needs.

The company will ship all TimberTech deck boards to customers, he said.

“We deliver the materials with personalized service,” Spodek said. “There is no order too big or too small and we deliver everything.”

City Lumber is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
