Sunnyvale, Texas Named America’s 2nd Best City for Outdoor Living, According to 2022 National Study
Dwellics analyzed Data over 50,000 US cities to compile the report. Among the ranking factors are the number of parks, fields, playgrounds, hiking trails and other public outdoor spaces; number of trees and amount of free space; climate, including temperature, humidity, wind and cloud cover; air and water quality; and risk of natural disaster.
The Lone Star State scores well in the report, with Texas earning fifteen mentions in total, including two of the top five places. The best Texas cities for outdoor living:
- Sunnyvale, TX (#2)
- Wylie, TX (#3)
- Lake Road, Texas (#12)
- Port Lavaca, Texas (#16)
- Princeton, TX (#26)
Texas’ the largest and most populous cities are not on the list. The first five Texas outdoor living communities have an average population of just under 19,000, suggesting that smaller towns with lower population density are more welcoming to outdoor living.
A recent report from Upwork, the world’s largest job market, reveals that as many as twenty-three million Americans plan to move in 2022. For many of these people, the increased availability of remote work is leading to a desire to move. in areas with better access to the outdoors and outdoor activities. Additionally, according to a study by the Outdoor Foundation, more Americans than ever are participating in outdoor activities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
