DETROIT – State Police are seeking information on a vehicle believed to have struck and killed a man in Detroit early Sunday.
Soldiers received a report of a person lying in the road at around 1:45 a.m. May 30 on the Gratiot Avenue ramp southbound on I-75, state police said. of Michigan, Metro Detroit.
The man was found partially lying on the pavement, police said, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified using a portable fingerprint reader, but the identity has not been shared at this time.
Investigators have found a point on the roadway where a collision may have occurred, as well as evidence of the man’s body impact with a vehicle, police said. State Police deployed crash reconstruction units to investigate the incident.
A witness told police she observed a dark-colored SUV driving near the scene at the time of the crash, police said. The soldiers are currently trying to collect a video of the area and a better description of the suspect vehicle.
