Outdoor activities to improve mental health in Erddig
The Rainbow Foundation has partnered with the National Trust in Erddig to provide access to a range of outdoor activities to improve health and wellbeing in June and July.
Being outdoors is key to improving mental health and post-pandemic more and more people are enjoying the great outdoors and connecting with nature has many health benefits.
At Wrexham, people don’t have to travel far to immerse themselves in nature to improve their health and well-being.

Geraldine Vaughan, Operations Manager, said: “We know that being connected to nature and the great outdoors improves people’s health and well-being.
“According to a study by the UK’s Mental Health Foundation, spending time outdoors has been one of the key factors enabling people to cope with the stress of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Throughout the pandemic, almost half (45%) of people in the UK have told them that visiting green spaces helps them cope.
“Research also shows that getting outdoors can improve many health issues like blood pressure, boost your vitamin D levels, and improve your overall physical health.

“That’s why we’ve partnered with the National Trust and are inviting people to join us for a series of wellness activities at Erddig in June and July.”
The program of events includes Nordic walking, an outdoor visit, art in the garden, walks in the woods and books on prescription.
All activities are part of the Green Social Prescription offering to encourage people to connect with the natural world around them and fully experience the beauty that Erddig has to offer.
Sue Jones, VCI Manager at Erddig and Chirk Castle added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Rainbow Foundation, being able to use the special places we care for for the benefit of the local community is woven into everything we do. . We look forward to welcoming all participants.
Wellbeing activities are open to anyone aged 18 and over living in Wrexham.
