Heima – Creative outdoor living – Cabins with a hotel brand

Small wooden houses but also isolated refuges, huts are used in Scandinavian countries to retreat into nature with as little as a layer of glass to separate the living space from the natural habitat. The rise of local discovery, as well as the quest for minimalist luxury and the desire to reconnect with nature, have contributed to making this archetype attractive to the greatest number. heima reinterprets cabin living, overseeing the development and management of eco-resorts built in pristine locations and made up of isolated cabins immersed in the wilderness. The Heima development offers all the comforts expected in the luxury hotel segment with a unique twist: no effort to ‘protect’ guests from the natural elements, from rain and mud to connecting with local wildlife. The end goal is to bridge the gap between outdoor living and urbanism with a disruptive approach to sustainability and well-being.

Who is Heima?

heima is a startup born and raised in the incubator of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, thanks to the relentless creative efforts of its young but experienced team composed of Mark Tosi and Marco Antonio Caporale on the hospitality side; and architect Paolo Danesi of Kengo Kuma. At its core, Heima combined the Italian founders’ flair for design and craftsmanship, combined with its sharp precision and detail-oriented Swiss identity. The founders are determined to revolutionize the industry with a bold vision: to make outdoor travel accessible to luxury travelers while facilitating their domestic journeys.

However, do not be fooled by the essential aspect of Heima’s buildings and its authentic values: more than 30% of the company’s resources are devoted to R&D (mainly based on clean technologies) allowing the company to ensure a unique positioning on the market for sustainable offers.

From a limited impact to a positive footprint.

Heima’s offer is aimed at landowners, companies, public actors or simply investors, in charge of a preserved site and/or heritage, confronted with the arbitration between conservation and development. Aiming to develop projects in pristine places, sustainability at Heima is not an add-on but the cornerstone of its offering. Heima strives to change the prevailing view of hospitality on the subject, from limiting impact and recovery to promoting positive change through action. Each of Heima’s tourist sites is thought of as a unique living ecosystem, blurring the boundaries between the resort, the surroundings and the local communities. A lightweight, concrete-free footprint approach to Heima’s buildings ensures respect for the existing nature and landscape. Heima’s resorts can last a century but can be removed in weeks, adhering to a strict 0-trace policy. While the bespoke modular policy blends off-grid options with cutting-edge clean technologies to enrich the offering and enable response to the most remote locations.

An all-in-one solution

Heima also solves another problem for our clients: many development opportunities are abandoned for the sheer complexity of dealing with the multiple stakeholders involved, which is one of the main obstacles faced by small projects. Studying the entire value chain, from feasibility studies and technical services to pre-opening services and ongoing management, enables streamlined processes and a unique degree of consistency at every step.

Call to action

Today, Heima is truly a platform for slow travel and serviced outdoor living, in line with current industry trends and allowing customers to tap into a sense of unity with the surrounding landscape that is missing. to traditional “fenced stations”. Heima is currently rolling out its first projects in Italy and Switzerland and is an unparalleled opportunity to keep in mind for nature-based and “impact-driven” developments with managed services.
