Gulfshore Homes Renovates Outdoor Living Spaces

Originally, an abundance of landscaping, both inside and outside the pool, and pillar-style cage framing, interfered with the phenomenal view of the lake.

One of Southwest Florida’s most trusted, respected and talented home builders, Gulfshore Homes has built a solid reputation for building new homes, whether it’s one from their perfectly designed spectacular models or from a luxurious private residence.

Throughout its long history, Gulfshore Homes has also built an incredible reputation for another craft specialty – home renovation – both inside and out.

“While many homeowners want to renovate the interior of their 15 to 20 year old homes, they also see the need to renovate the exterior as well,” said Steve Watt, president of Gulfshore Homes. “Whether renovating the interior or exterior, Gulfshore Homes promises the same caliber of craftsmanship and uncompromising quality that embodies our newly built custom homes.”

One of the construction company’s latest exterior renovation challenges occurred at the award-winning beach and golf club community of Miromar Lakes.

“The owners of a beautiful lake house were not happy with the view they got of the great lake from inside their house, or for that matter, from outside their house on the their pool deck,” said Matt Shull, construction manager of Gulfshore Homes. “It was our task to change that, and what a change it turned out to be.”

According to Shull, a number of accent columns, scattered throughout the deck area, were eliminated, and the pool cage, with a wide frame and short screen panels, was replaced with a new cage. that framed the view, rather than obscuring it.

“The more modern pool cage has larger screens,” Shull recalled. “You can compare them to a large bay window in your living room. It really opens things up. »

In addition to removing the columns and replacing the cage, the large plants around the pool, inside and outside the screen enclosure, had to be removed.

“The house is right by the lake. If you have tall plants surrounding your pool and the perimeter of the cage itself, you’re actually blocking the view,” Shull noted. “The owner has paid a premium for his home’s waterfront location and it deserves uninterrupted views.”

Other elements of the renovation project included the design and construction of a new, larger pool with an elevated spa, replacement of the deck with large format pavers, and the addition of LED lighting throughout the pool. and outdoor living space.

“The end result is the creation of a more efficient outdoor living space that enhances the view of the lake rather than hiding it,” Shull said. “The outdoor living space is also much lighter and brighter. And that’s the Florida lifestyle in a nutshell.

“Renovating outdoor living spaces is a growing business for us,” added Watt. “People move to Florida to enjoy year-round sunshine – and in many cases – the incredible surroundings of their home. We appreciate the opportunity to work with these owners so that their homes – and the views they offer – exceed their expectations.
