Green Bay Packers Workout Former 3rd selection round and another

It is standard practice for NFL teams, including the Green Bay Packers, to coach players every week during the season. Some will be signed, and most will not.

The Green Bay Packers brought in two players for practice on Monday.

According to Rob demovsky from ESPN, Monday after the Packers’ victory over Pittsburgh, they had two players to practice; Delano Hill and Justus Reed.

Hill is a defenseman and former 2017 third-round pick for the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent his first four seasons. He has 750 career defensive snaps mostly in a backup role, according to PFF ($$), with much of it in 2018 and 2019.

During that time, the 6’1-inch, 216-pound hill counted four presses, 56 total tackles and allowed 21 catches on 29 targets at 15.7 yards per catch. He has no interceptions and only one pass break.

The majority of Hill’s snaps came safe, but he also recorded 170 snaps in the box and 68 in the slot. It’s also important to note that he has nearly 700 special team snaps, an important aspect for any fringe player.

In safety, the Green Bay Packers currently have Darnell Savage, Adrian Amos, Henry Black and Vernon Scott on the active roster, as well as Innis Gaines and Shawn Davis on the practice squad.

Reed is a 2021 edge rusher and UDFA from Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-3, 253-pound Reed played six seasons of college football due to injury, including two with Florida, three at Youngstown State and his senior year at Virginia Tech.

In his final season with the Hokies, Reed posted 31 presses, seven sacks and 19 total tackles, per PFF. He posted a RAS of 3.78 out of 10.

For more on Reed’s game, here’s what NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had to say about him in his preliminary report:

“A transfer from Youngstown State graduate, Reed has participated in college programs for the past seven seasons. He has a history of injuries, so the combination of his age and durability is cause for concern. His activity level helps him as a passer, but his offense isn’t as skillful as it should be among the pros and he doesn’t have the flurry to attack around the corner. He can chase and tackle from behind but does little to impact the run as she descends towards him. He has an uphill battle to make a list.

This summer, Reed spent time with Tennessee and Washington, seeing the action in two games with Washington while registering pressure in just 17 shots.

With Za’Darius Smith on IR for the foreseeable future, the Green Bay Packers find themselves with Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Jonathan Garvin, Chauncey Rivers and LaDarius Hamilton on the 53-player roster and Tipa Galeai on the practice squad. .
