During heat breaks, many enjoy outdoor activities
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day with temperatures in the 80s and low humidity. Lots of people headed to local parks and pools for fun in the sun!
Forest Park was the place to be on Sunday, with people enjoying the warm summer weather after the oppressive heat and humidity of the past weekend. People came for a walk in the park, for a nice bike ride in the shade, or they came to the paddling pools or the swimming pool to cool off.
Springfield’s Leilani Cox told 22News, “I like going to the pool, swimming and riding my bike.”
The park has a bit of everything for families to make the most of the summer weather before fall. Everything from a zoo to ice cream and even a swimming pool.
Peter Paradise Michaels from Springfield comes to the park every day during the summer with his wife to take a nice walk and enjoy the breeze. “The humidity and the heat aren’t that bad, so we’re where the weather is nice here in the park. We are having the best time. We come here almost every day, we like to walk, sometimes I jog. I’ll even play music here sometimes, just enjoy it while we have it,” he said.
Other families fished and fed the ducks, or played volleyball, even enjoying a nice picnic or grill.
Springfield’s Garren Cox expressed some of the things he loves: “Walking the dog and playing in the park. Feed the ducks too.
Springfield’s Rylee Chatman expressed an activity she loved to do, “Ride a bike and relax.”
Whether you’re staying indoors or heading out, be sure to drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and wear loose clothing to stay as cool as possible.
