Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute to Revitalize Outdoor Space at Eagle Valley Children’s Home | Carson City Nevada News
The Carson City Leadership Institute Class of 2022 is asking for community support as they aim to raise funds for this year’s class project, which will significantly improve the deck space at Eagle Valley Children’s Home.
Eagle Valley Children’s Home is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1946. It provides a residential option for intellectually and physically disabled children and adults in Nevada requiring specialized care and treatment.
For 75 years, the Eagle Valley Children’s Home quietly and humbly served Carson City and Northern Nevada, and during that time provided much needed service that had a profound impact on the lives of those they served as well as their families.
By learning more about Eagle Valley Children’s Home, the 2022 Carson City Leadership Institute wanted to mark the nonprofit’s 75th anniversary and help improve the quality of life for its residents. It was brought to the attention of the class that the EVCH terrace was rarely used due to security concerns and a lack of visual appeal. After visiting the site, it was clear that this was the project to pursue.
The group of 15 community leaders aims to remodel the patio to make it a safer and visually beautiful space for residents. Additionally, they hope to create a sensory garden for everyday physical enjoyment and mental well-being, all much-needed upgrades to make the space usable by residents and visiting family.
“Our class is working to secure enough funding to complete this project by May,” said Lydia Beck, Class of 2022 attendee and Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Visit Carson City. “We hope people will consider donating any amount that will help us reach our goal of $25,000. Together, we can improve the lives of Eagle Valley Children’s Home residents and create a beautiful, safe space to spend quality time for physical and mental well-being as well as to visit family.
With continued public and corporate support over the years, Carson City Leadership Institute classes have created incredible projects that have made significant improvements and contributions to the Carson City community. Donations for this year’s class project can be made online here or by calling the House Office directly at 775-882-1565.
