Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns come off an ugly 13-10 home win over the lifeless Detroit Lions on Sunday.
It’s a game that saw an injured Mayfield throw two interceptions while completing just 15 of 29 assists as he deals and plays through three different injuries.
Surprisingly, Mayfield did not take part in a mandateroy post-game media session. For their part, the Browns declined to give a reason why the former No.1 pick skipped the session.
That hasn’t stopped Mayfield’s wife Emily from taking to social media to blast the quarterback’s teammates.
“Nobody better to speak badly about Baker Mayfield after this game,” she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I don’t think I’ve seen such tenacity in a while. Maybe the rest of our team should figure it out and get tougher. “
It is not subtle at all.
Baker Mayfield, 26, suffers from knee, shoulder and foot injuries. He had said in the past that he had never played with so much pain.
“It was tough, but I think nobody cares,” Mayfield said ahead of Sunday’s game. “So there is no reason to go in there. Nobody cares. No one wants to feel bad for us. So that’s what it is. It’s OK.”
Apparently his wife did not receive this note.

Drama in Cleveland between Baker Mayfield and the Browns?
It was earlier in November that the Browns gave up on Odell Beckham Jr. after his father took to social media to blow up Mayfield. The two clearly hadn’t had a good relationship on the pitch in their two-plus seasons as teammates.
Even then, other Browns players sided with Mayfield as the argument climaxed. There was no loophole in the locker room.
Although Mayfield’s wife deleted the aforementioned social media post, she is still available for her teammates to read. There could be something about it that creates more drama in Cleveland as the Browns look to turn a tough 6-5 start to the campaign into a second straight playoff appearance.
As for Mayfield, he hasn’t been great over the past month or so. That period saw the prominent former Oklahoma total four touchdowns against three interceptions in four games. Obviously, a lot of this has to do with the injuries suffered by the quarterback.
Things will need to improve on that side with Cleveland set to face the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday Night Football Week 12.
