Adventure Camp Outdoor Activities for Kids to Fun June Break
Looking for holiday fun and meaningful outdoor activities for kids in June? The Singa Tribe Adventure Camp will engage children aged 5 to 12 in fun activities such as fishing, hiking in the forest and visiting an organic farm. At the same time, they will learn about ecosystems and sustainability. This camp is run by Otolith Enrichment, a community-based social enterprise that provides training in environmental science, aquaponics and hydroponics. It is led by lead instructor, Khor, trained in first aid.
For perhaps the first time, your children will be away from technology and discover life on the farm and in the forest. They will become more eco-conscious through first-hand experience. When it comes to protecting our planet, it’s always a good idea to start young! Plus, they can develop teamwork and social skills along the way. Check out the highlights below!
Visit of the organic farm
The city kids get a taste of life as a farmer! Children will have on-site farming experiences at the adventure camp. They will learn how to get get rid of pests to differentiate between beneficial and harmful insects. As well as the myriad benefits of organic farming, including the development of healthy soils from environmentally friendly fertilizers. They will even catch grasshoppers as bait for the fishing activity.
Outdoor activities Mini hike in the forest
What could be better than a hike in the forest to get to the heart of nature? Children will hear the shrill noises of cicadas and discover the contrast in temperature and air of the farm and the forest. The creek is another highlight of the trip. They will observe and collect various creatures, from clams and tadpoles to insect nymphs, to find out if the ecosystem is thriving. Through forest hiking, they learn to see the unpolluted stream as a source of drinking water for Singapore. They will release what they catch into the waters.
Through these outdoor activities, they will learn valuable lessons about environmental sustainability. These include why the forest is important to the ecosystem as a whole, how to keep water clean, and steps to assess a healthy stream.
Campfire holiday fun (for older kids)
Older kids are ready for a delicious challenge at the Singa Tribe Adventure Camp. There are popular outdoor activities for them in the forest, such as how to light a fire safely and even roast fluffy marshmallows on the campfire, which are rarely found in other adventure camps. .
Snacks are provided, as well as water from the water fountain, so all they need to do is bring their water bottles to refill. Biological insect repellent is also available to protect them from bites in the wild.
Fishing for kids
As the saying goes, teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime. Do you remember the grasshoppers they caught when they visited the farm? Children can catch fish in Otolith’s own pond using grasshoppers as bait and bring their catch home at the end of the busy day.
The waiting process in fishing is where they learn patience – and they will feel very proud when they succeed! It’s no wonder that fishing ranks first in Otolith’s list of favorite outdoor activities for kids.
Alternatives to rainy days
In case of rain, nature-based outdoor activities are available under a shelter. They will learn how to use leaves and twigs creatively and how to build a teepee with bamboo and dry leaves.
