Activity challenges families outdoors.

PREECEVILLE – The Family Activities Challenge was held from February 18-27.

“This is a simple idea to encourage families of all shapes and sizes to spend quality time together,” said Karolyn Kosheluk, coordinator.

The only requirement was that the activity included either some form of literacy, such as reading, writing or crafts, or physical activity such as sliding, walking or skating. There were 136 registrations from families in the area. The prizes were a $25 gift certificate for a meal. There were four winning families represented by: Ashley Vance, Juanita Ivanochko, Danielle Stasiuk and Jennifer Sjuberg.

“We have organized this kind of challenge in the past and many families like to participate. The dates coincide with the February holidays when the children are not at school. It’s so great to see all the photos and videos that so many people send in with their entries. Even with the cold weather, families were still outside, sliding, ice fishing and enjoying new calves and baby bunnies. Other entries feature fantastic craft ideas, cooking classes, and musical performances,” Kosheluk concluded.

The Family Activity Challenge was sponsored by the SPE Family Resource Center which has been providing programs for children and families in the Sturgis, Preeceville and Endeavor area for over 25 years.
